About Our High Polyphenol California Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Our 2023 high polyphenol Tuscan extra virgin olive oils are made from green unripe olives.Tuscan oils are rich and pungent.in flavor with a floral or grassy aroma. Attributes of our oils are: grassy, buttery, mild palatable bitterness, with a crescendo of pepper for the finish. Our Tuscan olive varietals are: Frantoio, Leccino, Maurino, Pendolino, Taggiasca.
We are pesticide free and farm naturally. Our olives are hand harvested into clean buckets. We do both milling processes, unfiltered and filtered, first cold press for maximum flavor. Our chemistry is excellent and within all certification standards..The results guarantee that our olive oil is pure and extra virgin. Our labeling meets the highest of olive oil standards, both front and back.
Bitter oils are more healthful. The polyphenols are present along with the antioxidants and are part of the peppery finish. EVOO can have either low or high polyphenols. Most store bought oils are low in phenols, less bitter and low in total phenols.San Miguel Olive Farm choose to produce a high phenolic oil which is just the opposite. Our goal is low free fatty acid FFA .03 -. o4, .o5, .o6 , with high phenol content (450 to over 750.. These two qualities extend the shelf life of our oils, providing you store them in a cool dark place. Chemistry does change with age.
Drizzle our nutritious, healthful Mediterranean diet EVOO after roasting, grilling and steaming.Perfect oils for dressings, pasta, pizza, chicken, dips, baked goods, fish, salads and fun foods like ice cream and popcorn. Try our new high phenolic popcorn EVOO.We have also added a coffee and cocktail EVOO infusion super oil with great flavor and chemistry.
Replacing butter with EVOO in a recipe is flavorful and very healthful. Pairing our high quality extra virgin olive oil with aged Balsamic from Modena, Italy is a delightful treat.
FDA approves scientific evidence suggesting that daily consumption of about 1.5 tablespoons of oil containing high levels of oleic acid may reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, as they replace fats and oils higher in saturated fat and total daily calories do not increase.
A long time goal of San Miguel Olive Farm is to produce the highest quality EVOO with high (antioxidants).

HOW WE BEGAN
My wife, Myrna, and I have gone from working in music industry to dedicating the last quarter of our lives to growing olives in west San Miguel, CA. Our legacy will be leaving 1200 olive trees to the next generation.
In 2006, encouraged by a family member, we began the adventure of olive farming. Watching our trees produce small green olives for fine extra virgin olive oil is the most exciting and rewarding.
We have been farming with a passion for the past 16 years. Our first crop in 2011 surprised and delighted us with highest awards. We have continued winning awards in international, state, and local competitions. The fruits of our labor have led to over 100 amazing awards
